IOMETER not showing all disks or physical drives

So I went to do a benchmark of a new system and I noticed that IOMETER was only showing the C drive and not the physical disk or the shared cluster disks.

Googled this with no luck and then I did what I do with every problem I now run in to with win2k8 and I ran IOMETER as administrator which did the trick

not sure why the DAS drives were different from the C drive, but this fixed it.

  1. This fixed my problem! Found you by a google search… thanks for posting this…

  2. Thanks! That helped me out! I put a link to this article on my little blog a doodle do too. Hope you dont mind.

  3. Thank you! This was very helpful, as IOMETER does not show all disks (several missing!) when I use a normal user account.

  4. Had the same problem. I couldn’t see more than the system drive even though I just added a new disk to my virtual Windows Server 2008 R2 server in vSphere Client 5.0. Found this blogg post by Googeling. Starting IOmeter as Administrator solved my problem to. Thank you for posting! Saved me some swearing :-)

  5. Most excellent! Thanks for sharing this. Ran into the same issue just now, and you saved me a headache ;-)

  6. This fixed the problem I installed this as an administrator but not the Administrator account. Weird – Thanks so much!!!

  8. It worked for me as well on windows 7. Thanks!

    • However in my case I had to make sure that I delete the volume from Disk management GUI as well (as I saw in another post related to this topic) to make sure that it shows up in IOMeter.

  9. BTW, on linux, run dynamo as root.
